Poetry Selections

First, let me say that I don't normally like poetry. As a man, and by a man I mean a traditional male with all the available testosterone, I hesitated to place these poems online. If you are a man and you are reading this you probably understand where I am coming from; if you don't then don't pay me any attention.

So my background is that I don't normally enjoy reading poetry, unless it is one of those unusual Edgar Allen Poe poems--and not even all of his strike me as enjoyable for reading. My very first poem, called Darkness--which is not on here--developed in my mind after watching a certain minister on television speak about the moon and how it has no light source of its own, yet reflects the light of the sun to the dark world at night. His obvious parellel to the way a Christian should live out their life gave me some ideas and I jotted them down on paper. That became my first poem which was later used in an altar call and helped to persuade several to come back to Christ. That was about 200 poems ago. But, like I said, I don't like poetry.

When my grandfather died I read his eulogy; it was comprised of some of his old poems that my family had discovered tucked away in some safe "man-vault"(most of us in the family had no idea that he was a poem writer). I did'nt pay much attention to the poems until I wrote my first poem two weeks after he died. Then I started reading some more of his. Eventually, I turned his poems, and mine, into a homemade book called "THE MAJESTY'S POETRY." Long story short, I believe that my grandfather was given a gift to write poetry by the Lord. I also speculate that that gift was passed on to me when he died in some unusual way known only in heaven.

Very few people know that I write poems, and that is sad because it is a gift from God--and no I am not trying to boast here. Recently, I was convicted in my heart for not sharing my poems. That is the sole reason that they are on this site. I hope that they impact you for the Kingdom of God. That is my prayer. That is the only reason for my sharing them.
